This build is all about burst damage and chasing anything down. Which are the 2 things absol does best. This build doesn't compensate for his weaknesses, only adds to his strengths. He can't go toe-to-toe with a lot, so don't run into a teamfight with the attitude of a defender or all-rounder. You also can't hang back like an attacker. So killing them before they kill you is the only way you can survive. So pick your fights carefully.
Once you get pursuit, opponents are going to have a hard time getting away. You can use it as a mobility option too, spamming it while heading to a location or getting into and out of fights. Absol has very low cool downs, so this move will be your bread and butter.
Pyscho cut also helps the "chase down opponents" game plan, with the added benefit of being able to hit multiple opponents. Its also your only poke, but using it to reveal enemies you know are hiding in the bush is a good idea.
Items:
scope lense and razor claw are there for one thing, critical hits. Absol's whole gimmick is crits, so he relies on them to work. Increasing the chance and damage of them is absolutely necessary.
Muscle band helps with consistent damage output.
X attack is there for, you guessed it, more damage. Slow smoke is also a consideration, it slows enemies attack speed so you have more time to burst them down. There's no correct choice here, they both advance the gameplan, just in different ways. Smoke will make you slightly more survivable, but extra attack in the early game is huge.
Works Well With
While eldegloss is the "good with everything" pokemon, its especially true for absol, as she covers for your weaknesses almost perfectly.
Barrier is a godsend for trapping opponents trying to flee, separating them so you can burst them one at a time, or blocking them from chasing you.
