Guide
(BUILD NOTES: Focus Band is interchangeable with Score Shield. Score shield is a better guarantee of stacks, but Focus Bands' defenses and heal effect are invaluable to Trevenant).
Take Branch poke. Secure one Aipom on the way to lane, then run straight to the enemy goal and score, using branch poke to aid your escape afterwards. Repeat this as often as you can until you get 6 goals, or attempting backcaps would screw your allied laner over. You should aim to get at least 4 back-caps before level 5 if possible.
Once you hit level 5, You start being a more legitimate threat with curse. Curse has insane scaling with attack damage, and with a stacked attack weight, your enemies won't be able to just ignore you and kill your ally laner in fights. When fighting, you can use branch poke to make your way into and then back out of a fight. Just be careful you know for sure the fight will last long enough that you can reset branch pokes cooldown. Don't overcommit too hard, since Curse hurts you quite significantly, and you have limited sustain.
Once you hit level 7 and get horn leech, you start becoming a real nuisance for the enemy team. There are 2 ways you can combo your skills together:
1) Use horn leech first, then curse.
2) Use curse first, then horn leech.
The first is better if you're going to get into a long, drawn out fight, usually when dueling 1 opponent. Basic attacking an enemy 3 times during curses duration should let you reset horn leeches cooldown before curse bursts, letting you get 3 uses out of horn leech in a very short space of time.. Curse also isn't ticking before you get enemies in range. This is your MAXIMUM damage combo.
The second is better for teamfighting, especially if you're diving into many enemies. You will probably have to detonate curse early to reset horn leeches cooldown for a heal, and this should be fine since if you pop curse at around the time your passive procs, the cooldown will be back up very soon anyway. Playing this way can potentially net you 4 horn leeches in a very short space of time if you manage your skills correctly. It takes practice but you will get there.
Once you hit level 9 you get your unite move. Your unite move is usually best used while you are on low HP, as Curses slow is stronger, and Horn Leech heals more the less HP you have. Horn leeches higher heal also compounds with the heal amp from Phantom forest. Try to hit as many enemies with it as you can to get a thick shield to keep you alive.
Gameplay Tips:
- Attack weight gives you enough extra damage that enemies can no longer ignore you, but you are NOT a carry - disrupting the enemy team and protecting your carries is your main concern in teamfights.
- Try your best to avoid fights until your passive is up, or you know it will be up any second. Help your team with objectives, other than that if there is no reason to fight, don't.
- You can use eject button during horn leeches animation to catch an enemy in it if you have whiffed, or use it to get behind an enemy and push them into your team-mates. It's not worth doing this to kill an enemy or save yourself just for the sake of it, but it is worth it if an important objective spawns soon.
- As I say in all of my guides, do not use your unite move once the 3 minute mark hits, as you will need it for Zapdos.
Works Well With

This back-capping strategy works well when paired with another pokemon who is capable of doing the same, or when paired with a pokemon who is strong enough to defend the goal and claim some farm solo while trevenant is doing so. Lucario is capable of both.
