Guide

The suggestion may say "Any Lane," but that's mostly because the options are somewhat limited. I would not recommend taking Charizard to top lane, due to Charmander's weak early game in comparison to the usual top laners.

In Bottom Lane, you'll want to play safe and play off your lane partner and jungler to the best of your ability. Try not to be proactive until level 7, when you get your second ability.

In the Jungle, do not engage enemies until at least level 5. Take note of where the enemy jungler is compared to you, and either countergank them or gank the opposite lane. Just like with Bottom Lane, you can start actively engaging targets at level 7. However, you'll ideally want to be close to level 9, if not at that level, before the first Drednaw.

For the items, Focus Band can be replaced with either Scope Lens to synergize with Charizard's Blaze passive, or Buddy Barrier to keep yourself and a teammate healthy. Regardless of your choice, Muscle Band and Energy Amplifier are both necessary for Charizard to maintain a threatening presence.

While your autoattack range does increase each time you evolve, it's still fairly short even as Charizard. It is for this reason above all else that we always take Fire Punch over Flamethrower. Additionally, Punch has higher damage, some slight push, and the cooldown difference between the two moves is negligible. For any engagement, you'll want to lead with Fire Punch to apply burn to your target and increase your autoattack damage.

The choice between Fire Blast and Flare Blitz is a personal preference or a game-by-game difference. Flare Blitz can help you stick to a target due to being a targeted ability, it can help protect allies with it's knockup, and the shield it provides makes you harder to take down. Fire Blast on the other hand has significantly greater damage and zone control thanks to it's AoE. Catching an enemy in the flame zone will slow them as well, which worst will force out their Eject Buttons. Either option can work for both solo carrying and team coordination, so pick your poison.

Charizard's Ultimate has two activations. The first engages "Flight Mode," making Charizard unstoppable, faster, and allowing it to fly over walls and terrain. It also increases your autoattack damage and grants lifesteal. Alongside the Muscle Band and Energy Amplifier, this ultimate can turn around most 1v1s, and possibly even a 1v2 on occasion.
The second activation picks up a target to perform Charizard's signature Seismic Toss. Aside from being a good finisher, this can be used to take someone out of the fight for a couple of seconds. In a game like this with a 10 minute timer, every second matters, so those precious moments when a character can't act can be game-changing.

Works Well With

Slowbro

Slowbro's surf can stunlock a whole team, and his Telekinesis and Unite Move can further lock down a single target. Works best with Fire Blast Setups.

Gardevoir

Gardevoir is already made to deal massive AoE damage, so it stands as no surprise that she synergizes with the Fire Blast setup. Alternatively, you can use the Flare Blitz setup to help protect her while she lays down her damage.
