Guide

Start with Whirlpool to instantly start dishing out damage. This move is broken at levels 1-4, so use excessively. Leveling up doesn't matter quite as much since Lapras doesn't evolve, so focus more on scoring small goals to max out your Sp. Atk. Specs as soon as possible. This will allow you to start dealing huge damage with Water Pulse (level 5). Paired with Slick Spoon, which always ignores some of the opponent's Sp. Def., this will create an even bigger boom Lapras.

Use Bubble Beam to trap opponents so your teammates can deal more damage (you can throw in your own Whirlpool or Water Pulse, too) while they're stunned. This is especially useful because both Whirlpool and Water Pulse deal more damage the longer opponents are in range. You can also use this to gain advantage against a single or close cluster of opponents to score.

Use X Speed to chase down opponents to secure KO's with Water Pulse, or use it as an escape plan.

Lapras's Unite Move is different from most others in that it's more of a technical move than a power play. Instead of saving it for large teamfights, use Lapras Express to get to places on the map quicker or to pull low-health teammates out of battle so they can continue later. (Do not overuse.) I've even used it in the final stretch to pull a teammate to an opposing goal zone so they can score quicker. Remember, press the Unite Move button again to cancel the move so you don't just sit there awkwardly spinning in circles for 10 seconds with a teammate on your back.

I never use any defender without Focus Band. It's extremely useful when it comes to staying alive, which is what defenders are for.

This build works best with white and green emblems. Try not to nerf your HP or Sp. Atk. with your emblems. If you have extra room, use blue and/or purple emblems to boost your Defense or Sp. Def.
