Guide

This Slowbro build has two main focuses: supporting damage dealing allies efforts to finish opponents off, and stopping opponents from reaching your goal and scoring.

Both of these functions depend on you acquiring Surf as soon as possible, so play close to goal until then. If your teammates try to go score before then, ping retreat.

Once you reach level 4, the opposing team will probably try to score. Be aggressive in your defense. Get right in their face, and once they reach half health, use surf to block their escape. After surf ends, use telekinesis on whichever opponent is still alive. They won't stay that way for long. If one of them tries to escape with eject button and there isn't risk of you being hit by a surprise attack, then use your eject button to chase them. Note that you should only try this if you have a teammate to back you up; otherwise, you should play far more defensively. Once they are dead, score in the goal.

On the other hand, let's say your teammate dies for some reason. If you have two or three opponents coming after you, your goal is to keep them away from you until a teammate arrives to back you up. Try to keep them all out of your reach and use the berries, but don't let them drive you out of the goal zone for very long either. Telekinesis can be used to give yourself a bit of a breather, especially when only one opponents is left.

One thing to be cautious when using Telekinesis is the range. If an opponent is at maximum range and running away, using it will cause Telekinesis to miss. In fact, if you are in a lower rank where teammates wait around for telekinesis to finish before attacking, you should probably just use Amnesia for extra sustain and damage.

These strategies don't just apply to laning, they also work with large defensive team fights as well. You do have to be more cautious with the aggressive defense, but if you can catch everyone in surf, the payoff is also far greater. Slowbeam is also a perfect move to use in these fights. It acts like a shielded, offensive telekinesis that also (with buddy barrier) supports teammates. Usually most pokemon's hp will have been halved in a team fight by the end of this move, and it often deals more damage.

I chose eject button it helps with Slowbro's pursuit and escape options. The held items are all defensive items to increase Slowbro's tankiness. I wouldn't recommend using any extra offensive items with this build because the point is more to help aggressive teammates score, but if you decide another defensive item, like aeos cookie, shell bell, or assault vest works better, use that instead.

Works Well With

Alolan Ninetales

Ninetails is literally the perfect partner for Slowbro with this build. (check out my build for her, "Fox in Socks"). Avalanche and Blizzard deal high damage and freeze opponents so you won't even take damage before they try and escape.

Venusaur

Venusaur is great at devastating teammates you captured with surf, has high damage output and survivability, and can even pull opponents back with their boosted attack.

Gardevoir

Gardevoir can also deal massive damage to opponents trapped in surf. You are also good at protecting Gardevoir when they are weak in the early game
